ABOUT JAMES FREEBORN
James Freeborn is an alt-folk songwriter based in Glenwood Springs, CO. Raised in the brick-house neighborhoods of downtown Fort Wayne, IN, he began writing and performing music at the age of 16. In 2018, he moved to the mountains of Dillon, Colorado, where he released his debut EP, JANUARY’S GHOST a year later. The whole project was recorded in a closet during his spare evenings, while he spent his days working in housekeeping at a ski resort.
In 2022, he plunged into a life of playing covers at bars on Broadway in Nashville, TN and across the U.S.--always attempting to provide his own acoustic spin on pop classics such as Feel Good Inc. (Gorillaz) or Toxic (Britney Spears).
And in 2023, he released his first full album, MESAS & MOONS. Recorded with Tate Kirgiss in West Lafayette, IN, the album garnered more than 100,000 streams across all platforms in its first year. In yet another debut, he released his first music video, The Grave (directed by his brother-in-law, Luke Menard), shortly thereafter. The track received acclaim from the likes of R+ in Argentina and Conversations About HER in the U.K.
Currently, he spends his time finding inspiration for new music on hikes through the red cliffs of Glenwood Springs with his wife, Michaela, and small lab, Quinn.
